I had no idea of the versatility of beetroot and am a complete convert. It’s delicious, nourishing and fantastic in smoothies, which have kept my energy up whilst working. Thank you for introducing me to the LoveBeetroot website - it worked, I love it!
Emilia Fox, actress (who ate beetroot whilst pregnant)
I cannot live without pickled beetroot. In fact I could eat anything that’s pickled but beetroot is the winner hands down. I used to eat a whole jar as a kid and my mum would find me covered in red vinegar.
Jimi Mistry, Actor
For lunch I like to have chopped feta, beetroot and chives drizzled with olive oil – it’s a quick and nutritious dish.

It’s almost shameful how good dinner can be when it’s just a case of opening a couple of packets. I wouldn’t have guessed it myself, had it not been for the fact that I had some people over for supper and had to rustle up a vegetarian option at the last minute. Halloumi, otherwise know in my house as “squeaky cheese” is a fantastic standby: I think of it as vegetarian bacon...Beetroot I am more wary about, but I happened to have a vacuum-sealed pack of small and steamed beetroot, left as is and not poisoned with vinegar, and suddenly felt compelled to mix the intense saltiness of the former with the sometimes overwhelming sweetness of the latter. It didn’t just work, it really worked.

Pst...Catherine Zeta Jones is reported to have become addicted to beetroot after eating it while pregnant with her two children, while actress Anna Friel is a fan of beetroot in liquid form, opting to juice it with celery and dandelion leaves. Sara Cox loves snacking on pickled beetroot, and with the stash of beetroot jars seen in TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing winner Matt Baker's kitchen on the recent series, Jimi Mistry's clearly not the only Strictly beetroot fan!
